Shootout at Shalbagan Bazar, Bharat Ratna Sangha secretary shot dead
The growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias, the North side of Agartala city on Tuesday evening has once again shaken after a shootout incident at the cantonment area of Shalbagan and killing of club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar.
Sources said that one Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki , a club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha and local BJP leader on Tuesday evening went to Shal Bagan area with the car of one Biman Das at about 7.30 PM and after half an hour, they family members of Viki heard that he received bullet injuries and was shifted to ILS Hospital.
SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that after receiving the information of a shootout at Shalbagan Bazar, police teams rushed to the spot and later, they learnt that one Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki received one bullet injury to his head and died at the spot.
A large contingent of police teams led by the SP and other senior officials arrived at the spot and they launched a massive investigation to find out the details of the shoot-out incident, which mainly held for a share of money of negotiation CPW contracts and police suspected that local mafias may be involved with the shootout incident.
While speaking with the media persons in front of ILS Hospital, the elder brother and wife of the victim youth claimed that Biman Das called Viki in the evening and sent his car to reach Shal Bagan area. They also complained that mafias of Usha Bazar area were responsible for killing of their kin.
Viki’s wife said that negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Rajesh Barman, Debabrata Barman, Santosh and Prabakar Ghosh were responsible for the killing of her husband.
Meanwhile, SP (West) Kiran Kumar said that police teams are investigating the incident and they are collecting all evidence related to the incident and so far there are no arrests.
He also added that at the preliminary stage of investigation, police cannot say anything in details over the shootout and who is responsible for killing one person.
