Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers' New Year celebration with under privileged children in Dharmanagar
Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers celebrated the New Year with under privileged children of Dharmanagar on 6th January 2025.
Earlier celebrations of the new year included initiatives to add joy and cheer in the lives of 'the abandoned girl child' at a shelter in Kolkata and destitute boys at 'a home for the homeless' in Agartala and Kolkata.
And the celebration of this new year, held at 'Gurukul' - a children's refuge in Dharmanagar - was all about bringing a smile in the faces of hapless 'street children' in Dharmanagar on the happy occasion of the New Year.
The programme of the day included much song and dance about the joy of childhood and provided a platform for the children to showcase their talent. Additionally, there was a lot of fun and games for the children to enjoy themselves. The purpose was to give them an opportunity to rejoice and celebrate- in the true spirit of the new year.
Gifts for the children included study material and sports-kits, basic nourishment and nutrition supplements - apart from cakes and chocolates. And the programme ended with a sit-in lunch.
Altogether, a fitting celebration of the New Year - with children who don't know what celebration is all about. Bishwa Bandhu Sen, Speaker, Tripura Legislative Assembly graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Swami Girijananda-Ji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Kailashahar, blessed the initiative.
"I am really very happy to be a part of this very special New Year celebration", said Bishwa Bandhu Sen, "and I take this opportunity to congratulate Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers for this very noble initiative and wish them all the best to keep showing concern - for the 'have nots' in North Tripura - like they are known to do elsewhere in the State.”
"I bless this very special initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers" Said Girijananda-Ji Maharaj, "and wish them all the best for other such projects that they surely have in mind for this region in the future.”
"We, at Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, have always extended the pursuit of excellence beyond the four walls of the jewellery showrooms and extended a helping hand to come to the aid of all that was ailing in society", said Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, adding "and central, in this direction, is our contribution towards supporting initiatives to rescue abandoned women and children.”
"The smile - in the faces of the happy children enjoying themselves at our celebration of the New Year in Dharmanagar - said it all for them", said Arpita Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, adding "and that is what made our New Year, celebration, really special ... and also made us see it as a very meaningful 'Welcome To North Tripura !"
The day-time New Year Carnival for under privileged children was followed by a drive, later in the day, to distribute blankets and food-packets for pavement-dwellers - in and around Dharmanagar - to find some relief from hunger and to brave the winter months. "Once again, the look in the eyes of people left out in the cold, said it all and made our day!", said Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers' Director Rupak Saha - happily signing-off for the day. Happy New Year, Tripura !
