In an horrifying murder, a 55-year-old woman was beheaded at Ratanpur in Tripura’s Khowai district allegedly by her 24-year old son after a quarrel over money, police said on Wednesday.
A police official quoting the victim’s family members said that Haricharan Jhara sought some money from his mother Parbati Jhara but she expressed her inability leading to the quarrel among the duo.
“Haricharan allegedly chopped off Parbati’s head with a ‘Dao’ (a sharp-edged weapon) after Tuesday midnight. We arrested Haricharan along with a ‘Dao’,” the police official said, quoting the detainee's elder brother Krishna Mohan Jhara.
Police recovered Parbati’s body, which was found in a pool of blood inside the bamboo made hut.
A forensic team has visited the spot and collected evidence of the crime.
