A stolen scooty was recovered and two thieves were arrested within just two hours following a complaint lodged at Maharajganj Bazar Town Police Outpost (TOP) of Agartala on Thursday.
Police sources said that, a scooty was stolen in the early morning from the area beneath the Netaji statue at Maharajganj Market. The owner, Bimal Poddar, subsequently lodged a complaint at the Maharajganj Bazar police outpost.
Acting on the complaint, East Agartala police launched an investigation and arrested two suspects from the R.K. Nagar area within two hours, recovering the stolen scooty from heir process.
In a separate operation, police also detained two persons and seized 230 bottles of foreign liquor, with an estimated market value of around Rs 1 lakh.
Police further recovered three water motors that had reportedly been stolen from the Chandrapur area.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala police station Krishnadhan Sarkar, all four detained persons are scheduled to be produced before a court on Friday for further legal proceedings.
