Sudip appeals to Pradyot to merge with Congress and lead party
Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman through his clarion calls to the supremo of Tipra-Motha Pradyot Kishore Debbarma appeals to merge his party with Congress and should lead the party for overall progress of indigenous people.
Addressing a mass joining programme held at Congress Bhavan on Monday afternoon, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) permanent invitee member Sudip Roy Barman also said that all leaders of Tripura Pradesh Congress will stand behind Pradyot Kishore to lead their fight against oppression and deprived politics of ruling BJP.
While, the spree of joining to Congress from different political parties remained unabated as jubilant opposition and some ruling party leaders deserted their camp and joined Congress during a mega joining programme held in front of Congress Bhavan and a total of 7,423 voters from 1,473 families joined Congress in presence of PCC president Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman and AICC secretary Ms Szarita Laitphlang.
Among the leaders, who joined Congress on Monday including former CPI leader and minister, Manindra Reang along with his supporters joined Congress by deserting the camp of Tipra-Motha. Similarly, many leaders from ruling BJP, opposition CPI(M), Motha and from Trinamool Congress have also joined the party and they were welcomed by PCC leaders.
Sudip, mentioning the last assembly poll results said that it is the first that the present BJP led government is ruling the state with only 39% of vote share, whereas oppositions have above 60% of votes. He said that the mandate of the majority of the people was not reelected in the number of seats for a particular reason. Through his scathing attack towards the leadership of Tipra-Motha without naming them, Sudip claimed through unrealistic demands they cannot play with the sentiments of poor indigenous people for long run and only Congress can ensure the rights of indigenous people and will continue their movements.
He said that regional party leaders know very well over their unrealistic demands, which is not possible and Congress will organize movements at ‘Jantar Mantar’ of New Delhi on December next for 125th Amendment Bill of constitution, Roman script for Kokborok and constitutional rights for direct funding.
Sudip highlighting contribution of Congress for protection of rights of the indigenous people made a surprise when he threw a clarion call to Tipra-Motha’s supremo and royal scion and former PCC president Pradyot Kishore to rejoin the party and lead the party. “I call upon Pradyot Kishore to rejoin the party and become our top leader ;that will not only strengthen Congress but the people and the state of Tripura; we promise to struggle together to ensure that the demands and aims of Motha are fulfilled” said Sudip. But before concluding his speech he suddenly fell ill and collapsed on the ground and had to be taken to hospital. But the programme continued.
Earlier, in the programme Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, and AICC secretary Ms Szarita Laitphlang and former minister Manindra Reang addressed the gathering.
Former Motha leader Manindra Reang also criticized the top leaders of Motha for playing with the sentiments of indigenous people through their fake promises.
