Leaders of the surrendered NLFT and ATTF have called for a 72-hour statewide shutdown from September 4, alleging that the state government has failed to fulfill their demands regarding the rehabilitation of surrendered militants.

The programme was announced at a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Friday. The leaders also announced that blockades would be organized on key roads on September 4, including Churaibari, the Assam-Agartala National Highway, and the Akhaura Road along the India-Bangladesh border.

NLFT leaders Parimal Debbarma and Prasenjit Debbarma, along with other leaders representing surrendered NLFT and ATTF members, were present at the press conference.

The surrendered members have previously launched movements demanding the implementation of rehabilitation measures and financial packages promised to them. In June 2026, they had also announced a 72-hour statewide shutdown along with road and railway blockades over the same demands.
