Three bike lifters arrested, 4 stolen bikes recovered
With better coordination by the authorities of two police stations, Ambassa and Birganj, the state police on Tuesday managed to recover four stolen motorbikes and have also arrested three bike lifters.
Police sources said that recently, few motorbikes were stolen away by suspected bike lifters from Ambassa town and during the investigation of the cases, the police personnel from Ambassa police station led byt OC Biswajit Debbarma got lead of the cases centering the Birganj area of Gomati district.
Based on the investigation information, the Ambassa police in association with the police personnel from Birganj had launched a night long search operation in different areas of Birganj on Monday night.
During the raids and search operations, the police personnel recovered two stolen motorbikes from the house of one Shivjoy Reang of Kurma village of Kanchancherra under the same police station and arrested bike lifter Shivjoy and his associate Prasenjit Debbarma of Jagabandhu Para village under Gandacherra subdivision.
On Tuesday morning after interrogation, police with two arrested thieves raided at the house of another noted motorbike lifter Biswashakti Jamatia (40) at Gamoka Bari village and also recovered another stolen motorbike under his possession.
Based on the interrogation statements of all three detained bike lifters , police raided another house located at Tingaria village of Ampinagar and have also managed to recover another stolen bike.
Police added that soon after the stolen incidents, all these arrested thieves had changed the registration numbers of recovered motorbikes and had also sold one bike and used three other bikes.
Police also said that the Ambassa police with recovered bikes and three arrested lifters have produced them before an Ambassa court with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
