Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday said that our Tiranga is a symbol of sovereignty, glory, statesmanship, consciousness, patriotism and selflessness. And that is why each and every one has to maintain the dignity and respect of our national flag.
Dr Saha said this while addressing the Har Ghar Tiranga Rally & Partition Horror Remembrance Day at Rabindra Hall, MBB College, Agartala on Friday.
He said that due to the division in 1947, lakhs of people from Hindu, Sikh and Muslim communities crossed borders and came to India, and they faced many problems, leading to unrest, ethnic clashes and other issues.
“Many people died, women faced issues and children went missing. We should not forget such things. Due to the Partition, many people faced problems and caused suffering. To give them respect, today this day is being observed from 2021,” said Dr Saha.
He said that no one thinks about our country, but when a foreign enemy attacks us or our country faces any crisis, then only we think about the country and understand what our country is and what needs to be done.
“Country is first for us. When PM Modi appealed to us, we started celebrating Har Ghar Tiranga, and this is the fifth year. When he declared it, a wave could be seen, and it also helped to encourage the hoisting of flags. Har Ghar Tiranga plays a key role in strengthening the relationship and emotion with the Tricolour and in giving respect to the heroes who made supreme sacrifices during the freedom struggle. We must develop these feelings among the present generation. On the night of August 14 and 15, what happened is why we observe Partition Horror Remembrance Day,” he said.
Dr Saha also said that today’s generation has not seen anything during Partition, and to ensure that such things are not repeated again, the Partition Horror Remembrance Day is being observed.
“Our national flag is not only a piece of cloth or only three colours, but we must understand its greatness and importance. First, development is important. If we stay united and strengthen ourselves, then the state and country will progress further. Our national flag is a matter of pride, and we have to feel proud. Our national flag carries the history of sacrifices by heroic freedom fighters and those who were martyred. They fought against the British and made the country free from the hands of the British. Our Tricolour is a symbol of sovereignty, glory, statesmanship, consciousness, patriotism and selflessness. And that is why each and every one has to maintain the dignity and respect of our national flag”, said Dr Saha.
He also said, “We have undertaken a series of programmes from August 9 to August 17. PM Modi has been saying to make the country Viksit Bharat by 2047, and this will be possible when all the states become Viksit States. For that, we have created a roadmap and became fifth in the country,” he added.
