Tragic road mishap at Dharmanagar, one killed, six including children injured
In a tragic road mishap, an octogenarian man died on the spot and six others including two children suffered critical injuries, when a electric auto-rickshaw collided face on with a mini-truck in high speed at Digharkhal area of NEC Link road of Dharmanagar on Sunday morning.
Police sources said that one mini-truck (TR-05-G—1812) was moving towards Durgapur area and another electric auto-rickshaw (TR-05-A-2118) with passengers was coming from opposite direction and collided face on with that mini-truck in heavy speed.
As a result, one passenger identified as Abdul Latif (80) died on the spot and other passengers including auto-rickshaw driver Saliq Ahmed (36), Salema Begum (53) Joyrun Bibi(65), wife of the deceased Abdul Latif and their family members Sofyana Khatun (37) and her 11 years old son and 3 years old daughter suffered critical injuries.
All of injured persons were shifted to Dharmanagar hospital by firefighters and local people.
Police sources added that auto-rickshaw driver, Sofyana Khatun and her son were referred to a Silchar based hospital after their conditions deteriorated.
While, after the tragic road mishap, accused mini-truck driver managed to escape from the spot. Police has also shifted deceased’s man body to hospital morgue for autopsy. Police also registered an FIR and started investigation to arrest accused driver.
