Tripura Chief Secretary, DGP & BSF’s ADG visits Dhalai, Sepahijala districts borders
In order to ensure tight security across Indo-Bangla border along with Tripura before the all-important 72nd plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) on December 20-21, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governors and Chief Ministers of all eight northeastern states will attend the meet, Tripura’s Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General of BSF Eastern Command, Kolkata conducted an extensive visit to BSF Ambassa and surrounding areas in Dhalai district.
They also inspected the Border Outpost (BOP) at NC Nagar in Sepahijala district, accompanied by Ashwani Kumar Sharma, IG Tripura Frontier BSF.
The visit focused on assessing the prevailing security situation and operational readiness along the India-Bangladesh border. Key issues discussed included pertaining to effective border management i.e. day & night intense domination of border by BSF, Joint operation with Police and other Intelligence agencies to prevent trans border crime, action against touts facilitating illegal migration, destruction drive of cannabis, Security of border population residing ahead of fence and plan for relocation of villages ahead of Border Fence, road connectivity and supply of electricity to BOPs, land acquisition cases etc were discussed in depth.
During visit to BOP N C Nagar, DIG SHQ BSF Gokulnagar also briefed the visiting dignitaries about the current security scenario and extra steps taken to further strengthen border security.
Chief secretary and DGP Tripura lauded the tireless and persistent efforts of BSF troops deployed on border in difficult terrain.
The visit underscored the commitment of BSF in conjunction with State authorities to bolster border security, of international border with Bangladesh border.
