Tripura get permission for state’s first Dental College, PM Modi to inaugurate on December 18
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the state’s first Dental College on December 18 next as on Thursday, Tripura got the permission to start the academic activities of the Dental college from 2023-24 academic year, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Thursday night, Chief Minister soon after returning from North Tripura district said that it’s a great day for Tripura as on Thursday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare gave the permission for academic activities of state’s lone ‘Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital’ for starting BDS course with seat capacity of 50 for the academic session 2023-24.
Dr Saha all the admission will be held through all India pre-medical entrance test the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET and 15% of the total seats will have to given for central pool, 5 to 7 seats for other Northeastern states and rest seats will be kept for Tripura’s students.
Giving details of the ambitious journey of the Dental College, Dr Saha said that a team of Dental Council of India (DCI) visited and inspected the infrastructure set up in the new building of IGM Hospital on December 12 and 13 last. After the DCI team returned to Delhi, the Executive Council (EC) of DCI held a meeting on December 14 and sent their approval to the Union Health Ministry.
As per the approval of DCI, on December 15(Thursday) afternoon, the Union ministry gave their permission for academic activities of the Dental College, said Dr Saha and added that DCI in their remarks highly appreciated the infrastructure set up for the Dental college and claimed that it will be Northeast India’s top dental college. He said that separate hostels for boys and girls with 25 intact capacity have also been set up and the government will accommodate students as per their numbers.
He also expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendar Modi for his health expansion policy and to Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
