Tripura moving with peace and development, PM Modi, inaugurates and lays foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs. 4,300 crore
After rousing welcome in the entire stretch from Airport to Vivekananda stadium, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a massive gathering said Tripura is moving towards peace and development due to relentless efforts of ‘double-engine’ governments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after arrival at Agartala airport, entered into Vivekananda stadium, where he launched a slew of development projects in poll-bound state including ‘Ghreha Pravesh’ for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme including 1,52,019 houses under rural and 54,526 houses under urban through virtually, inauguration of Hotel Management Institute and Dental College and laying of foundation stone virtually for 32 roads under PM Gram Sadak Yojana with length of 232 kilometers and 112 road projects with length of 542 KMs.
While addressing mass gathering of beneficiaries of different parts of the state said that the people of Tripura through their Swachh Bharat campaign has now achieved the tag of cleanest state of the country among small states
Mentioning the "double-engine government" focus, Modi said that the government is on all-round development of Tripura and the projects launched will give a boost up the state's growth rate.
Over 2 lakh poor families are getting their own homes today and the majority of them are mothers and sisters of Tripura and they are now ‘lakhpatis’ , said Prime Minister and added that .
Mentioning the state development through “HIRA”, Modi said that golden jubilee celebration of Northeast Council (NEC) in Shillong has adopted 8 points of developmental initiative for ‘Ashthalaxmi’ (eight states of NE region) and through ‘double-engine’ governments the growth rate of the NE region moving rapidly.
Modi said that before BJP governments, Tripura was earlier known for conflict but after the BJP came to power in 2018, it is now known for development, connectivity and cleanliness and for peace.
He said that Agartala Bypass road will create better traffic management for Agartala city and the Agartala-Akhaura rail link will open international trade corridor for Tripura and state will be a new gateway of trade for entire Northeast region, which would be connected with South East Asian countries such as Myanmar and Thailand. He also said that Agartala international airport will boost regional connectivity with South-Asian countries.
He said crores of rupees have been invested in infrastructure after the BJP came to power in Tripura and National Highways are getting a massive facelift and added that the optical fiber connections are now reaching up to Panchayats.
Highlighting the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said that the government’s most priority is that all treatment facilities should be at the doorstep of people and through this scheme more than 1000 health and wellness centres have been opened in the state providing treatment facilities for diabetes and cancer like diseases. Now, people of the state through Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Matri Jan Aarogya Yojana are getting treatment facilities of Rs. 5 lakh per year.
Castigating the previous state governments, he alleged the ration meant for the poor used to be looted before the BJP came to power in the state and now, poor people are receiving their rightful ration without any trouble. They have been getting free ration for the last three years, said Modi.
Modi claimed that previous governments had deprived the indigenous people of their legitimate rights of development and due to their negative politics, Tripura was lacking behind in their reverse gear.
The double-engine government has a positive outlook as well as determination to implement development work on the ground level, said the Prime Minister and added that BJP’s first choice of the indigenous people because of its positive attitude.
Highlighting poll results of Gujarat , Modi said that out of 27 ST reserved seats, the BJP has won 24 seats because of pro-tribal attitudes of BJP. The union government has increased the budget for indigenous people from Rs. 21,000 crore to Rs. 87,000 crore and the government has formed 10 tribal freedom fighters museums.
Now, the agri-products of Tripura are being exported to Bangladesh, Dubai and Germany and through the PM-Kisan Nidhi scheme, the farmers of the state have so far received above Rs. 500 crore, said Modi.
He also said that in the last three years, above 4 lakh families of the state get their piped water connections in their respective houses and added that for self-reliant Tripura, special packages have been given for women empowerment. He also expressed his satisfaction over the increase of Self-Help-Groups (SHGs) at its nine times empowering the women of the state.
Through the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, every lactating mother is getting money in their bank accounts, he said, adding that institutional delivery has been increased and now the mother, as well as the child, is healthy.
During the rally, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also highlighting the developmental activities of the state government expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister for his generous support to the state government.
‘Today the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of a bunch of projects today. This is a day to rejoice by the people of the state,’ said the Chief Minister and added that with the assistance of the central government, construction of six national highways is under progress and Rs. 10,222 crore has been sanctioned for seven more national highways. Rail network in the state has also improved because of the sincerity of the central government. He said, under the direction of the Prime Minister, different welfare schemes of the central and state government are being implemented in the state. The state government is implementing the Prati Ghare Sushason campaign to reach out to the people with development benefits at the field level.
The deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma delivered the welcome speech and termed the day historic. He welcomed the Prime Minister on behalf of the government and people of the state.
After the rally, Prime Minister Modi held a separate meeting with the ministers and MLAs at the state guest house and returned to Delhi on a special Air Force flight.
