Tripura Police contradict the fake news over attack on Biplab Kumar Deb’s house and arsoning
The fake news about attack and arsoning of the residence of former Chief Minister and incumbent MP of Rajya Sabha Biplab Kumar Deb created ripples in national media on Tuesday night as leading few channels and newspapers telecast and printed the news item.
Police sources said that in reality, there was no incident of attack and arsoning at the ancestral residence of former Chief Minister in Jamjuri-Rajdharnagar area under Udaipur subdivision, but there was political clash among the supporters of BJP and CPI(M) in Rajdharnagar area under Kakrabon police station of Gomati district, in which three shops and few vehicles damaged.
SP(Gomati) Ajit Pratap Singh said after the incident was reported, immediately police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
He said that two separate FIRs have been registered and one person has been arrested and seven more were detained for interrogation. He said that the media reports on attack on the house of a senior functionary of a political party and attack related communal violence are totally false and fabricated and are not based on fact.
He said necessary steps have been taken with large deployment of security forces and police are continuing monitoring the situation.
The statement of the SP (Gomati) makes it very clear that there was no attack on the residence of Biplab Kumar Deb and there was no question of any arsoning. Tripura Police also requests people to not spread and not pay attention to rumours.
On Wednesday local BJP leaders also said that the situation is under control and claimed that four of their supporters suffered injuries. The Gram Pradhan of Jamjuri Gram Panchayat, Subrata Das speaking with media persons also said that there was no attack at the house of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
Senior CPI(M) leader and local MLA Ratan Bhowmik said that they have postponed a scheduled programme at Jamjuri as there is a programme at the house of the former Chief Minister. But, on Tuesday miscreants owing allegiance with ruling BJP destroyed some CPI(M) flags and fastoons and ransacked few vehicle including few motor bikes and a car, said Bhowmik and added that miscreants had also set fire on three shops belongs to minority community to flare up communal tension in that area. He strongly condemned the media reports, which claimed that CPI(M) cadres attack at the house of Biplab Kumar Deb and also alleged that it’s a pre-planned attempt to disturb the peace in the locality and an attempt to spread communal hatred among local people.
