After assessing the performances of Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited (TSCBL) by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has been awarded as ‘Best Functional and Developmental banking’.

Addressing a press conference after the 40th annual general held at Agartala Town hall on Sunday, which has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha  , Kamal Kanti Sen, chairman of the TSCBL giving details of the businesses said that the cooperative bank is maintaining its profit has also rendering different banking services to the people of the state and the TSCBL has also awarded by the Union Co-operative Ministry for computerization of 268 LAMPS and PACS. He said that computerization training for staff of LAMPS and PACS has been going at SIPARD.

Sen said that on Sunday with the hands of Chief Minister, the TSCBL has started functioning of two micro-ATMs and launched 14-business correspondent points at remotest areas of the state.

He also said that the bank has also introduced two lucrative schemes for the customers including a deposit scheme at the interest rate of 7.90 % and cash-credit facilities of Rs. 30 lakh for government fair price shop dealers.

Highlighting the future ventures of the bank , Sen said at present the TSCBL has 66 branches including four extension counters and 9 running ATMs, but within a year the bank will install more modern ATM counters across the state to provide seamless financial transactions to its lakhs of customers.

While, addressing the 40th general meeting of the TSCBL at Agartala town hall, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that with developing rural areas, the country never get the ultimate progress and to achieve the target, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah has given emphasized on strengthening of co-operative banks to improve the socio-economic status of rural population.

Many projects have been taken to improve the rural lives through LAMPS and PACS,  said Dr Saha and appreciated the functioning of TSCBL.

He also said that to extend the banking services in the remotest parts of the state, where still banking services are not available, the TSCBL through electronic common service centres has been set 14 business correspondent points  and the co-operative banks have a total of 117 BC points across the state.

During the 40th general meeting of TSCBL, Co-operative minister Sukla Charan Noatia, secretary of cooperative department Tapash Roy, general manager of NABARD of Tripura zone, Loken Das and Kamal Kanti Sen, chairman of the TSCBL along with other dignitaries and officials of the bank.

Later, in the programme, TSCBL has also handed over a cheque of Rs. 10 lakh to the Chief Minister for Chief Minister’s Relief fund.
