Vocal campaign for Dhanpur ,Boxanagar by-polls end, tight security to ensure free and fair elections
The vocal campaign for the by-elections to the Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies ended peacefully on Sunday afternoon at 4 PM by putting an end to month long campaign by the BJP and CPI (M) candidates and no vocal campaign will be allowed in the silent period until completion of the voting process on September 5th.
In order to ensure a free and fair elections, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO0, Tripura Puneet Agarwal held a meeting in Sonamura to review the entire preparations of by-polls. The review meeting held in newly built Town Hall of Sonamura was attended by DM (Sepahijala) Dr Bishal Kumar, ADM and returning officer of Dhanpur Jayanta De, the returning officer of 20-Boxanagar seat Bhaswar Bhattacharjee, SP (Sepahijala) Jagadish Reddy, SDM (Sonamura) Manik Lal Das and in addition the assistant returning officers and officers in charge (OC) of all police stations, nodal officers and sector officers under the two constituencies were also present in the meeting.
The CEO, Puneet Agarwal reviewed the entire process of preparation and stressed on maintenance of law and order. He also instructed all the officials to work in accordance with the guideline issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) There are altogether 110 polling booths in the Dhanpur and Boxanagar constituencies and all the booths will have webcasting and ECI has also installed CCTV outside the polling stations.
Official sources said that there will also be 16 sector officers and 5 observers each in the constituencies. Altogether 2500 central paramilitary forces will be deployed in the two constituencies and the border with Bangladesh will remain sealed from Sunday evening till the end of the elections. The BSF has been put on high alert for intensified vigil along the border.
As per the directive issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Indo-Bangla border along with Sepahijala district of Tripura will be sealed from September 3rd to 5 PM of September 5th next till the peaceful completion of by-elections.
Official sources said that Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura and District Magistrate (DM) of Sepahijala district based on the directive of the ECI has issued order over sealing of international border for the by-elections of 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur assembly constituencies, to be held on September 5th next.,Both the constituencies fall under Sepahijala district and during the sealing period except BSF officers, jawans, assigned government authorities and other security forces, no people can cross the international boundary along with Sepahijala district.
Similarly, through immigration centre of Srimantapur under the same district, no Bangladesh citizen will be allowed to enter Indian territory.
