The West Agartala police station achieved a major success in recovering lost and missing mobile phones, with 26 handsets recovered and handed over to their rightful owners on Monday after proper verification.
The owners were visibly delighted to receive their mobile phones back after a long period and thanked the East Agartala Police for their initiative.
SDPO (Sadar) Pannalal Sen was present at the handover ceremony held at West Agartala police station. He said that after receiving complaints about lost mobile phones at different times, police launched a detailed investigation. With the help of technology and sustained efforts and with help of tracing the mobile with the help of Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, police were able to trace the missing handsets one by one.
After recovering the 26 mobile phones, police identified their rightful owners and contacted them. Following necessary verification and confirmation of the relevant details, the handsets were handed over to the owners at the police station.
Several owners said they had almost given up hope of getting their phones back after losing them. They expressed happiness over the recovery and praised the police for their active efforts.
Pannalal Sen said police regularly use various technological methods to trace lost mobile phones. He also urged people to promptly report cases of lost phones to the police and provide all necessary information related to the devices.
The initiative by the West Agartala police has not only helped residents recover their valuable belongings but has also strengthened public confidence in the police. Police are expected to continue their efforts to recover lost mobile phones and other belongings in the future.
