Women play crucial role in nation’s progress: CM
Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Sunday said that women play a crucial role in the progress of the country.
Dr Saha said this during the inauguration of the 2nd State Level Shehri Samridhi Utsav organized by the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission at Children’s Park in Agartala.
“Women play an essential role in the progress of the country. If women advance, the country will progress, society will improve, and Vikshi Bharat will develop. There was a time when it was accepted that women would only engage in household work. That perception is now a thing of the past. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Marg Darshan, both the Central and State Governments are making efforts to advance women in every field. The present central and state governments are implementing various schemes and facilities for women's development,” he said.
Dr Saha also mentioned on the occasion that 33 percent of seats have been reserved for women in government jobs in the state, and currently, 83 thousand 424 Lakhpati Didis have improved the socio-economic status of rural women through self-help groups.
“Fifty percent of facilities are being provided to women in the distribution of government stalls. The state government has reduced stamp duty from 5 percent to 4 percent for women in the deed registration category,” he said.
The Chief Minister stated that social allowances are being given to about 4 lakh 10 thousand beneficiaries in the state.
“Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, about 3 lakh 11 thousand 163 people have been provided with free LPG gas connections in the state so far. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, more than 4 lakh houses have been built in the state,” he said.
During the program, Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Datta, Corporator Ratna Datta, Director of Urban Development Department Rajat Pant was present.
