Women to play crucial role in Lok Sabha elections: CM
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that the women are ready to play a key role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of Viksit Bharat as PM Modi has given them due respect by ensuring their socio-economic empowerment.
Dr. Saha said this while addressing a substantial gathering of women during the Shakti Vandan program at Barsurma Tehsil ground in Dhalai district.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown due respect to our Nari Shakti by ensuring their socio-economic empowerment. Women are also prepared to play a significant role in the upcoming LS polls and contribute to Modi Ji's goal of Viksit Bharat. The overwhelming response from women in the event reflects their trust in PM Modi," he stated.
During the program, Dr. Saha highlighted the government's commitment to women's empowerment, citing initiatives such as the 33 percent reservation for women in jobs and 50 percent for government stalls.
He emphasized the government's focus on tangible actions over mere slogans and mentioned the induction of 137 women into the Tripura State Rifles.
"The government believes in work, not just slogans. An initiative has been launched to provide scooters to 100 meritorious students who performed well in the higher secondary examination. Previously, bicycles were distributed to students, and now scooters will be provided," he said.
Dr. Saha also commended the state's law and order system, mentioning the establishment of a women's police station in every district.
He highlighted the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission's (TRLM) efforts to enhance the socio-economic conditions of women in rural areas through self-help groups.
"Development efforts have been initiated through these self-help groups, all of which are managed by women. Additionally, the state government is implementing various initiatives for the welfare of people from all sections," he added.
