Bangladesh: Clash between two insurgent groups at a Rohingya camp leaves five dead
At least five people were killed during clashes between two insurgent groups at a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar city, media reports said on Friday.
The gunfight, involving Myanmar's separatist outfits the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO), broke out at camp No. 8 in Balukhali around 5:30 am on Friday, according to the Armed Police Batallion (APBn), reports bdnews24.
Three of the victims died on the spot of the incident.
Two of them died in the hospital later on.
All of them were members of ARSA, the APBn told bdnews24.
The shootout was linked to 'territorial dominance', but the insurgents fled before law enforcers arrived, Farooq Ahmed, assistant superintendent of APBn-8 told bdnews24.
Security has been beefed up in the camp following the incident.
