FIR filed in Pakistan suicide attack which left five Chinese nationals dead
Pakistani authorities have filed an FIR into the Shangla suicide attack incident which left at least five Chinese engineers killed, media reports said.
At least five Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver were killed after a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy.
The convoy consisting of 12 vehicles was travelling from Islamabad to Dasu Dam in Kohistan, when a suicide bomber hit one of the coaches with an explosive-laden vehicle, the FIR stated as quoted by ARY News.
Dasu is the site of a major dam in the country.
Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif directed to initiate a thorough investigation into the incident.
“Terrorism is a trans-national threat that has been instrumentalized by the enemies of Pakistan to stymie Pakistan’s progress and development. The acts targeting Pakistan-China friendship are particularly aimed at creating mistrust between the two iron brothers,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.
Pakistan's Punjab government has decided to beef up the security of Chinese officials in the province following the suicide attack on Karakoram highway in Bisham which left five Chinese nationals dead.
According to the Punjab Home Department, 3355 Chinese officials are currently working across Punjab and over 11,225 security personnel are deployed for their safety, reported ARY News.
The Home Department pledged to provide foolproof security to all Chinese officials across Punjab, the news channel reported.
China and Pakistan are strategic allies and Islamabad is considered a key link to President Xi Jinping's ambitious Belt and Road infrastructure initiative.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
