Germany: Two persons die in shooting at Mercedes-Benz factory
Sindelfingen: At least two people have died in a shooting incident that occurred at a Mercedes-Benz factory in south-western Germany, media reports said on Friday.
A 53-year-old man entered the production hall at the plant in Sindelfingen and opened fire, shooting two 44-year-old men, reports BBC.
One of the victims died on the spot while the other person passed away in the hospital later.
No other person was hurt in the incident.
Security staff detained the suspect and handed him to officers who arrested him without resistance, police was quoted as saying by BBC.
The car-making major company said it is 'saddened' by the incident.
"We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news from Sindelfingen this morning. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and all colleagues on site," Mercedes-Benz said in a statement as quoted by BBC.
Mercedes-Benz produces its S-Class luxury model at the Sindelfingen plant, which employs about 35,000 people, the British media reported.
