Pakistan: Former PM Imran Khan arrested outside Islamabad HC
Former Pakistan PM and PTI chief Imran Khan was taken into custody by the Rangers from outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
PTI official tweeted: " Rangers abducted PTI Chairman Imran Khan, these are the visuals. Pakistan’s brave people must come out and defend their country."
The party also shared a video of Imran’s lawyer, saying that he was “badly injured” outside the IHC.
PTI’s Azhar Mashwani alleged that Imran had been “abducted” from inside the court by Rangers. He said that the party had given an immediate call for staging protests in the country, reports Dawn News.
Islamabad Police said Section 144 had been imposed in the capital city.
It also confirmed that no one was tortured, adding that the police had encircled Imran’s car, Dawn News reported.
Khan's detention occurred after the police made several attempts to arrest him in the past, which included raiding his residence in Lahore.
The former cricketer, however, succeeded in evading arrest on those occasions.
