Islamabad: The poverty rate in Pakistan has spiked by 35.7 percent and the prices of edibles have increased by 20 to 31 percent, as per a Pakistani media report.
Pakistan ranks 92nd out of 116 countries on the list of the International Poverty Index, reports ANI.
According to a report, Pakistan is advised to develop a system to control inflation because inflation has been badly affecting food security for the last few years, added Intekhab Daily as quoted by the Indian news agency.
Several issues like terrorist activities, conflicts with Afghanistan and weather changes have already hit the food security concern of Pakistan.
The rapid and continuous rising inflation has deprived people of their food and basic facilities, reports Intekhab Daily.
