New Delhi/IBNS: Quick commerce platforms have removed the 10-minute delivery deadline for gig workers following nationwide protests held in December 2025, media reports said.

The move came after government intervention, with Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya holding meetings with officials from leading delivery platforms including Blinkit, Zomato, Swiggy and Zepto.

Following the discussions, the companies assured the government that they would remove the “10-minute delivery” pledge from their branding and service commitments. The decision aims to improve road safety, worker security and overall working conditions for gig workers.

The protests were organised by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union in coordination with the Indian Federation of App-based Transport Workers.

Nationwide strikes were held on December 25 and December 31, 2025, with participation from regional workers’ groups in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Delhi-NCR.

Gig workers associated with platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto, Amazon and Flipkart took part in the protests.

The workers raised multiple demands, including an end to unsafe delivery-time mandates, better pay, improved safety and security, legal recognition and labour rights, fair working conditions, social security and welfare benefits, adequate compensation, improved work logistics, and safer working environments.
