AAP to observe nationwide fast against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest on April 7
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced that the party will observe nationwide “samuhik upwaas” (collective fasting) on April 7 in protest against the arrest of its convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
All the party ministers, MPs, MLAs, councillors and workers will gather at Jantar Mantar on April 7 to observe a group fasting, AAP’s Delhi State Coordinator Gopal Rai said here while addressing the media.
He also appealed to citizens to observe fast collectively wherever they are to support Arvind Kejriwal and save the Constitution and democracy.
“Over the past two years, the Modi government has been conspiring to end the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal by orchestrating a fake liquor scam in Delhi,” Rai said, adding that BJP led central government had used the ED and CBI as its tools and arrested Aam Aadmi Party leaders one by one on false charges.
“After Sanjay Singh was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, it became clear that all these arrests were made without any evidence, through intimidation, pressure, making people government witnesses, and by lodging false accusations. The truth has come out in the Supreme Court. This is the biggest defeat of BJP's conspiracy and tyranny,” the AAP leader said.
He further said that since the rally of the INDIA bloc held at Ramlila Maidan on March 31, BJP's countdown has started. The whole BJP is under pressure now because there is only one voice in the hearts of the people that the Modi government is now crossing all limits, Rai said.
The fight against it will continue, and we will take this fight to the entire country, he said adding, “For this, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided that on April 7, a nationwide samuhik fast (group fast) will be observed across the country to garner maximum support and blessings from the people for this fight.”
Those who are against the tyranny of the centre, and want to save the country's democracy and constitution, are urged to participate in the collective fasting at Jantar Mantar, Rai said.
“In this collective fasting program, students, youth, workers, farmers, businessmen, social organizations, and NGOs, including everyone, can participate. Everyone will arrive at Jantar Mantar in Delhi at 11 am on that day to observe collective fasting and perform prayer,” Rai added.
