After SC’s rap, Tamil Nadu Guv Ravi agrees to administer oath to Ponmudy for inclusion in CM MK Stalin's Cabinet
New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Friday told the Supreme Court that he will administer the oath of office and secrecy to K Ponmudy at 3.30 pm today acting on Chief Minister M. K. Stalin's recommendation to re-induct him in the state Cabinet.
The Governor tendered his apology and submitted before the court that he had no intention to go against the orders of the court.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court came down heavily on Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for refusing to re-induct DMK leader K Ponmudi into the state Cabinet even after his conviction in a criminal case was quashed by the top court.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud said the Governor was "defying the Supreme Court" by his actions.
After SC rap, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi will reinstate MLA K Ponmudy as a minister in Stalin's cabinet.
The Tamil Nadu Governor and the MK Stalin government have repeatedly clashed on various issues after Ravi took over Tamil Nadu Governor in 2021.
The Tamil Nadu government sought the Supreme Court’s intervention over the delay in clearing Bills by the Raj Bhawan.
The court had then directed Ravi to act according to the advice of the Council of Ministers. The matter had escalated to Rashtrapati Bhawan as the MK Stalin government urged President Droupadi Murmu to remove RN Ravi from the post of Tamil Nadu Governor.
