Assembly Polls: West Bengal to vote in two phases, counting to take place on May 4
West Bengal will vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced on Sunday.
He said the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced polling dates for four states-Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala-and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Speaking at the press conference, announcing the dates, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said, " Electors of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. During the past few days, the Commission visited all the poll-bound states to review the preparedness for the ensuing Assembly elections."
He said 17.4 crore electors are expected to cast their votes in the upcoming polls.
Kumar said: "The Commission is committed to ensuring free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections."

Phase 1: 152: April 23
Phase 2: 142: April 29
Counting: May 4
