Bengaluru shock: Ex-ISRO staffer strangles wife, waits for police at home
A 65-year-old former employee of the Indian Space Research Organisation was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his wife at their residence in south Bengaluru, media reports said.
The accused, Nageshwar Rao, a resident of the Virtuoso apartment complex in Bommanahalli, is accused of strangling his wife, Sandya Sri, with a towel.
Officials said Rao had been undergoing treatment for depression and was reportedly distressed at the time of the incident.
According to police, Rao allegedly intended to take his own life after killing his wife.
However, he remained inside the house after the incident and later contacted an acquaintance, who alerted the police around 11 am. A police team reached the spot and took him into custody.
Police said the couple’s daughter, who lives in the United States, has been informed about the incident.
Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and verify medical and personal circumstances leading up to the alleged crime.
