Bhavesh Bhai Bhandari, a Gujarati businessman, donates Rs. 200 cr to become monk
Ahmedabad/IBNS: In what would raise eyebrows of many, Gujarati businessman Bhavesh Bhai Bhandari and his wife donated their earnings and assets worth Rs. 200 crore and all material belongings to adopt a life of monkhood, media reports said.
Bhandari and wife took out a Diksha ceremony where they donated jewellery, appliances, mobile phone and other belongings as they are set to become monks.
Bhandari, who had a construction business, was with his wife and 35 others during the donation procession, which went on for four kilometers.

The couple followed the footsteps of their daughter and son, who are 19 and 16 years old respectively, who became monks in 2022.
The Bhandari couple, who were the residents of Himatnagar in Sabarkantha district, will achieve monkhood on April 22.
After achieving monkhood, they will have only two sets of white garments, have to walk barefoot, adopt celibacy, get a bowl to get alms for survival.
In a nutshell, a monk has to detach himself or give up from all materialistic lives.
