BJP demands action against officials for overlooking mosque's "illegal" construction in Phaltan
Kolhapur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both Shiv Sena groups -- Shinde and Thackeray - and other Hindutvwadi organisations on Monday demanded stern action against officers in Satara district who ignored the illegal constructions in a mosque in Phaltan city of Maharashtra's Satara district.
They warned that if the illegal construction was not demolished within a month then Hindutvawadi organisations will construct a Maruti Temple in front of the mosque.
At a press conference on Monday afternoon, BJP state secretary Vikram Pavaskar said that even the High Court had directed on 27 July 2013 that the illegal constriuctions in the mosque be demolished as per state government decision.
However, the Phaltan municipal council's CEO, tehsildar and other officers avoided demolishing the illegal construction while simultaneously a new construction also took place near the mosque with support of officers.
Pavaskar warned that if the Satara district administration failed to suspend the officers and institute an inquiry, and did not demolish the illegal construction within a month, then wa Maruti (Hanuman) temple would be constructed in front of the mosque.
If any law and situation arises then the administration will responsible, he added.
