BJP dismisses INDIA bloc's Ramlila Maidan event as 'parivaar bachao' and 'bhrashtachar chupao' rally
New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday slammed the opposition INDIA bloc's gathering at Ramlila ground, labelling it as a "save family" and "conceal corruption" rally.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the opposition’s rally was all about “parivaar bachao” and “bhrashtachar chupao” and highlighted corruption allegations against numerous leaders, including those affiliated with the Congress, DMK, and the RJD, emphasizing that these accusations trace back to the period before 2014.
This comes in response to the opposition's claim that the Modi government is targeting them in corruption investigations out of political vendetta.
The Ramlila grounds once hosted the "India against corruption" movement under the leadership of Anna Hazare, Trivedi said, adding that it is hosting on Sunday a rally for "everybody with corruption.”

It is surprising to see how people who called several leaders thieves and criminals have allied with them, Trivedi said, taking a dig at Arvind Kejriwal, who forayed into politics backing on such allegations and has now joined forces with parties, he accused of corruption.
Trivedi said Lalu Prasad Yadav, a convict in several corruption cases, is now one of the leaders of the bloc and ally of AAP in INDIA bloc, he added.
He accused them of joining hands to conceal their past wrongdoings, and pointed out that these parties opposed the construction of the Ram temple tooth and nail and some even advocating for the eradication of Hinduism.
INDIA bloc parties are going through a credibility crisis in Indian politics, whereas the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands for trustworthy governance and fulfilling its commitments, he said.
Taking a jab at the opposition, he remarked that despite their claim of uniting to safeguard democracy, they are entrenched in dynastic politics that hinder the rise of others.
Despite their efforts to mask the truth and create a perception of honest, the electorate will not be fooled and respond fittingly to them in the elections.
