BJP will throw TMC's Muslim MLAs out of assembly after winning 2026 elections: Suvendu Adhikari
Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has courted row by stating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will throw all elected Muslim MLAs of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) out of the legislative assembly after the saffron party wins the 2026 state elections.

Adhikari made the remark on Tuesday while calling the TMC government- led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee- "communal".
"This government and its police are communal. It's Muslim League 2. The Hindus of Bengal will uproot this government," he said.
The fiery TMC-turned BJP leader, who defeated Mamata in 2021 assembly elections, said, "The Speaker is acting unconstitutionally and adamantly. Kejriwal had acted in a similar manner by throwing out Vijendra Gupta (out of Delhi assembly) and now the latter is the Speaker.
"We will defeat Biman Banerjee (Speaker) and Mamata Banerjee and throw all TMC's Muslim MLAs out of the assembly. We will dump them on the road."
Slamming the remark, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "The remark is extremely objectionable, criminal and a reflection of a poor mentality. Debates are normal in assembly but no one can be targeted based on religion. This is unconstitutional, inappropriate and a provocation."
Ghosh claimed Adhikari's remark came out of his frustration stemming from being sidelined in his party.
"The LoP made the remark out of his mental instability caused by being sidelined both inside and outside the party," added the TMC leader.
Earlier, Adhikari had given a call to the BJP leaders and workers to focus on Hindu voters considering the Muslims don't vote for the country's ruling camp in the state, which is a few of the opposition-ruled regions.
"... We will side with those who are with us," said Adhikari who had also proposed the dissolution of the BJP's minority wing.
