BSP to contest Karnataka polls, says chief Mayawati
Bengaluru: BSP supremo Mayawati on Monday said her party will contest on its own in the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.
She said this in a tweet. The BSP leader said: "In the upcoming assembly election in Karnataka, BSP will contest on its own strength."
In a very crucial meeting held with senior and very responsible people in Delhi today, about 60 per cent of candidates' names have been finalised, Mayawati tweeted in Hindi.
The list of BSP candidates will be released soon, she said while giving strict instructions to field dedicated and hardworking party workers in the election.
The Congress had on Saturday announced the first list of candidates for elections in Karnataka. Names of Siddaramaiah and KPCC President DK Shivakumar were included in the first list of 124 candidates.
Siddaramaiah has been fielded from Varuna constituency, while Shivakumar from Kanakapura. The term of the present BJP government ends in May.
