Centre gives CBI approval to prosecute Manish Sisodia in Feedback Unit snooping case
New Delhi/UNI: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday gave its approval to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) to prosecute Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the alleged 'Feedback Unit' snooping case.
The development comes at a time when Sisodia is already on CBI's radar in the liquor policy case.
As per a CBI report, the Aam Aadmi Party, before coming to power in Delhi in 2015, had formed a feedback unit for political intelligence gathering.
Sisodia headed the alleged snooping unit. Meanwhile the AAP had dismissed the charges earlier.
Reacting on the development, the Delhi BJP welcomed the Home Ministry's decision to give permission for the prosecution of Delhi 's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the alleged 'Feedback Unit' snooping case.
Addressing a press conference, BJP's state working president Virendra Sachdeva said that CBI should immediately arrest Sisodia and a probe should be conducted on the real accused of this scandal- Arvind Kejriwal.
He added that "the people of Delhi also welcomed the decision and we are sure Manish Sisodia will go to jail on this charge."
