Choreographer arrested for raping 21-year-old within 10 hours of committing the crime in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Police Monday arrested a man suspected of raping a 21-year-old final-year degree student on Aug 18.
The victim was allegedly raped by a biker who had given her a lift on Sunday.
The alleged incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 1.30 a.m. when the 21-year-old woman was heading back to her apartment in Chandapura, near Anekal, after a dinner party in Koramangala.
According to reports, the bike rider took the woman to an isolated location instead of the designated place.
The victim was reportedly found by her friends behind a truck with a red jacket covering her.
According to reports, she had sent them an emergency message and her location. The culprit fled when he saw her friends arrive.
The woman and her friends could not stop him from escaping. However, one of her friends saw the suspect at the spot wearing a pair of pants and having a scratch mark on his face.
Police have launched a case under Section 64 (punishment for rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
One of her friends filed a complaint. Based on their information, the police tracked down the suspect using CCTV camera footage.
The accused, Mukshwaran, is said to be a dance choreographer and resident of Adugodi.
The incident took place amid ongoing nationwide protests against the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor in state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata,
