Conman Sukesh wept bitterly after prison authorities confiscated his luxury slippers, jeans in raid: Report
New Delhi: Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar shed copious tears after officials seized some of the luxury items he had been keeping with himself, media reports said.
In an undated video accessed by India Today, Sukesh Chandrashekhar is seen sobbing bitterly standing in one corner of his prison cell as a team comprising Tihar Jailor Deepak Sharma, deputy superintendent Jai Singh and personnel from the central security forces go through his cupboard and other belongings.
The team recovered Gucci slippers worth Rs 1.5 lakh and two jeans worth Rs 80,000 from Sukesh’s cell, according to the report.
After the police team leaves, Sukesh breaks down, apparently over the loss of his priced possessions, wiping tears with the sleeves of his shirt.
Jail authorities routinely conduct surprise checks to confiscate contraband, like weapons, mobile phones, or narcotics, if any, stowed away by inmates.
Sukesh Chandrasekhar is locked in the Mandoli Jail since August 2022 after he moved the Supreme Court seeking his transfer to a prison outside Delhi, citing a threat to his life.
Initially, he was lodged in the high-security Tihar Jail. His wife Leena Paul was also shifted.
Sukesh has been jailed over charges of alleged money laundering and extorting several people. While being lodged in Tihar jail, he had accused top jail officials of extorting crores in bribes from him.
The officials provided mobile phones and other facilities to the conman to contact his associates outside jail, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police said after booking 81 Tihar jail officials on corruption charges in July last year.
