Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia arrested over liquor scam case, Arvind Kejriwal calls it 'dirty politics'
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in a liquor scam case.
The leader was arrested after he was questioned for around eight hours.
After his arrest, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "Manish is innocent."
"His arrest is dirty politics," he said.
"People are angry seeing him arrested. People are seeing everything," he said.
"People can understand everything and they will give a reply," he said.
"This will boost our spirits further. Our struggle will get stronger," he said.
Sisodia and others face corruption charges over the new liquor sale policy in the national capital.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had ordered the CBI probe last year.
Following this, the Delhi government reverted to the old liquor policy and blamed the Lieutenant Governor for the loss of revenue worth crores of rupees that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government claimed would have come if the new policy had continued.
The probe agency is investigating the Delhi Excise Policy which has handed over liquor shop licences to private players.
