Delhi serial killer, guilty of rapingd & murdering over 30 children, gets life imprisonment
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of over 30 minors between 2008 and 2015, media reports said.
Ravinder Kumar admitted his guilt in carrying out crimes across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh during the period from 2008 to 2015. Some of these crimes also involved acts of necrophilia, reported India Today.
Following six years of committing these horrific acts and an eight-year-long trial, he was pronounced guilty by a Delhi court on Saturday.
Ravinder, employed as a labourer in Delhi, developed a horrifying routine at the young age of 18 in 2008.
He would take drugs, watch pornographic films, and then go out hunting for children to sexually assault before ultimately taking their lives.
This disturbing pattern continued for the following seven years, until 2015, during which Ravinder was responsible for the deaths of more than 30 children.
Ravinder migrated from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi in 2008 with the aim of finding employment. His father was employed as a plumber, and his mother worked as a domestic worker.
A few days after coming to Delhi, Ravinder got addicted to drugs and got access to pornographic film video cassettes, according to police.
He would sleep in his room between 8 pm till midnight and then go around looking for his prey near construction sites and slumps.
Sometimes, he would even walk up to 40 km in search of his prey.
In 2008, he first kidnapped, raped, and murdered a girl in Delhi’s Karala area. He continued with the sexual assault and killings, as he managed to evade the police radar.
Police said he killed his victims over the fear of being identified and chose different locations every time to avoid being traced.\
