"If Pakistan wants to free the country from the disease of terrorism, then the people of the country need to come forward," he said while addressing an event in Gujarat.

In his direct message to the people of Pakistan, Modi warned: "Live a peaceful life, eat your bread, else my bullets are there."

Shehbaz Sharif says he is ready for talks with India

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently touring Iran, on Monday expressed his willingness to talk with India to try to end the ongoing disputes between the two warring neighbours.

“We wanted peace, we want peace and we will work for peace in the region through talks on the table and resolve our outstanding issues, including the Kashmir problem, according to the resolutions passed by the [United Nations] Security Council … and even by Indian Lok Sabha (parliament) back in 1954,” Sharif was quoted as saying by Dawn News.

“We are ready to talk, for the sake of peace on water issues with our neighbour,” he continued.

“We are ready to talk to promote trade and also, counter-terrorism if they’re serious," he said.

“But if they choose to remain aggressors, then we shall defend our territory … like we have done a few days ago," Sharif said.

Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was a fierce military operation launched by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists who were enjoying their vacation at Baisaran Valley, which is referred to as India's Switzerland.

The operation was aimed at dismantling terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

After the Pakistan Army again targeted Indian civilians and resorted to cross-border firing, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated, destroying defence systems of the hostile neighbour. On May 10, both countries agreed to a ceasefire agreement after four days of escalation.
