ED asks Supreme Court to remove Bansuri Swaraj's name from Sanjay Singh's bail order
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday requested the Supreme Court to remove the name of Advocate Bansuri Swaraj, which had inadvertently crept into the order sheet of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh’s bail order.
Advocate Zoheb Hossain, appearing on behalf of ED mentioned the error in the appearance list in Tuesday's Apex Court order granting bail to AAP MP Sanjay Singh.
Hossain said the name of Advocate Ms Bansuri Swaraj was reflected inadvertently. She did not appear for the Central agency.
Yesterday a bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice PB Varale had granted bail to Sanjay Singh.
The matter was mentioned by ED counsel Zoheb Hossain before the Bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who was today sitting in a Special Bench with Justice MM Sundresh and Justice Bela M Trivedi.
Hossain said, "inadvertent error crept into the recording of the appearance. Ms Bansuri Swaraj was neither engaged nor did she appear in the matter".
The Advocate told Justice Sanjiv Khanna, that a formal application had been moved and the error might be on the part of the central agency "mechanically" while giving the names of advocates. He prayed that the appearance may be corrected.
In response, Justice Khanna said that the needful would be done.
The matter came to notice when Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj put up the screenshot of the order containing the name of Bansuri Swaraj as a Lawyer representing ED on the social media platform 'X' and alleged that the ED and BJP are the same.
Bansuri Swaraj is contesting the Lok Sabha Election from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat as a Bharatiya Janta Party candidate.
