HP constables paper leak case: CBI conducts searches in 50 location across 7 states
Shimla/UNI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday conducted searches at around 50 locations across seven States and UT (including Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Prdesh, Haryana etc) in an ongoing investigation of two cases related to leakage of question papers for the written examinations for the post of constables in Himachal Pradesh Police.
During searches, incriminating documents have been recovered.
The CBI registered two cases on Nov 30 last year on the request of the Himachal Pradesh Government based on the allegations of leakage of question papers of written examinations for the post of constables held on Mar 27, 2022.
During the investigation and scrutiny of documents, the alleged roles of various middlemen based in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, etc were revealed.
It was alleged that they were operating the nexus for the leakage of examination papers in an organised manner.
An SIT of state police was also registered by the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and the chargesheet was already moved in the court.
The CBI has moved an application in the court to postpone the hearing in the matter as the agency is reprobing the case afresh.
It is pertinent to mention that the SIT constituted by the state police didn't book any state senior police officials in the constable paper leak cases even though police conducted the examination and the paper was leaked under the scanner of officers from the printing press.
After the formation of the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government, another paper leak scam was exposed by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau in which an employee of the Hamirpur-based Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Selection Commission was founded involved.
This time the state police also found that three other papers would also be going to leak in the state examination going to conduct in future by HPSSC Hamirpur.
The state police handed over the probe of constable paper leak scams during Jai Ram Thakur government.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that the Congress government would assist CBI to investigate the paper leak case.
