'If you don’t defeat PM Modi now, you will end up becoming his permanent' slave: Kharge

Feb 3, 2024 ..

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘master of all liars’ (jhoothon ka sardar) and warned that if Modi was not defeated this time, he would make everyone his slave permanently.

Addressing the party workers’ convention organised by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) at the National Capital, Kharge said the Opposition leaders were continuously threatened and intimidated and then made to fall in line and join or align with the BJP.

He said Rahul Gandhi has undertaken the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, seeking justice for the people of the country and for saving the democracy and Constitution, which he claimed is, currently, under threat.

“If you fail in this fight (to defeat Modi), you will permanently become his slaves,” the Congress Chief warned.

Attacking the NDA government, he said Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had laid the foundation of all-round progress in the country, setting up big dams, public sector undertakings, and big institutions.

He then went on to challenge Modi and the BJP to list one single achievement that could match what Nehru had done.

Taking a dig at the BJP’s advertisement campaign about ‘Modi’s guarantees', Kharge questioned the NDA government’s promise of providing two crore jobs every year, or twenty crore jobs in ten years.

He also accused the government of not fulfilling its promise to bring black money and depositing Rs 15 lakhs each in every Indian’s bank account.

“That is why I say, Modi is the master of all liars (jhoothon ka sardar),” Kharge said, justifying his allegations.

“While the ED is being misused by the BJP,” Kharge said, “a BJP leader in Tamil Nadu wants to grab the land of one of his poor neighbours.”

He said there was unprecedented development and infrastructure growth in Delhi during the Congress regime headed by the late Sheila Dikshit.

He urged the people to ensure Congress’s victory, and said, “…if Congress wins Delhi, it will win the entire country.”

Congress general secretary in charge Dipak Babaria, AICC treasurer Ajay Maken, DPCC president Arvinder Singh Lovely, Alka Lamba, Sandeep Dikshit, Gurdeep Sappal, Devender Yadav, Haroun Yousuf, Rajesh Lilothia, Amrrita Dhawan and others were present at the event.
