Indian student from Hyderabad goes missing in US, family members claim they received a ransom call
Parents of an Indian student, who is currently studying in the USA, have said their son went missing and recently they received a ransom call.
According to reports, Abdul Mohammed,25, who is from Hyderabad, went missing from March 7.
The Indian national is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Information Technology (IT) at Cleveland University.
Mohammed Saleem, Abdul's father, has said he received a phone call from an unknown phone number recently.
He said the person who called him was allegedly a person of the gang.
The caller claimed they had kidnapped Abdul and demanded a ransom of $1,200 for his safe return, reported India Today.
The caller reportedly threatened to sell Abdul's kidney if ransom was not paid.
Abdul's relatives in the United States filed a missing person report with the Cleveland Police on March 8. A lookout notice has been issued for Abdul, India Today reported.
Police are currently investigating the Indian student's disappearance.
Speaking to India Today TV, Abdul's mother Abeda said she last spoke to her son on March 7, after which there had been no contact from him.
She urged the Indian government to intervene and ensure her son's safe return.
