Influencer Sapna Gill granted bail in Prithvi Shaw selfie controversy
Mumbai: A Mumbai court Monday approved the release on bail of Sapna Gill, a social media influencer, along with three other individuals accused of involvement in the alleged assault on cricketer Prithvi Shaw and damaging the car in which he was travelling.
Earlier in the day, Gill, accompanied by her friend Shobhit Thakur, as well as Rudra Solanki and Sahil Singh Singh, were sent to judicial custody for a period of 14 days. Following this, they filed bail applications with the court.
Last week, all the accused who had been arrested were granted bail by Metropolitan Magistrate C P Kashid after brief arguments were heard in the Andheri court.
Through her lawyer Kaashif Ali Khan, Gill stated in her application that the FIR lodged against her is based on "completely false and bogus allegations".
"The statements in the FIR are fabricated, concocted and without any basis and the applicant (Gill) is being falsely implicated in the above case," the plea for bail stated.
Last Wednesday, outside a luxurious hotel in Santacruz, an incident occurred where Shaw and his companions were approached by Sapna Gill and her companions who demanded to take selfies with the cricketer after they had finished dinner at a five-star hotel.
Shaw declined a third request for selfies, which angered a woman and her friends. She attempted to hit him with a bat and damaged his car's windshield.
An FIR was filed against her and seven others.
