IPS officer Praveen Sood takes over as CBI Director
New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: IPS officer Praveen Sood took over as the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday.
Sood is an IPS officer of1986 batch of the Karnataka Cadre and was serving as Director General of Karnataka Police, officials said.
He has served in various important positions during his long tenure of about 37 years in the IPS, these include SP of Bellary and Raichur, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bengaluru City, Commissioner of Police, Mysuru City and Bengaluru City, officials said.
Sood has supervised the investigation of high-profile cases involving high net-worth individuals and issues with inter-state and international ramifications and investigation and detection of crime, including Cyber Crime and Information Technology.
Specifically, he worked for strengthening of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) & Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) networks in the Karnataka State along with the judiciary, officials said.
Sood is a graduate (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from IIT, Delhi, Post Graduation in Public Policy and Management from IIM, Bengaluru, and Maxwell School of Governance, Syracuse University, New York, officials said.
After taking over charge, Sood interacted with the officers of CBI.
