Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Assn stresses upon working in coordination with Sports Council for sports promotion
Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association has stressed working in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council during its Special General Body Meeting held here at Amar Singh Club Jammu.
Around 29 J&K UT Sports Associations affiliated and recognized with J&K Olympic Association attended the meeting held under its chairman Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma, President J&K Olympic Association.
As per the handout issued here, the members discussed the minutes of the last meeting held on January 15, 2023 unanimously passed by the house while a report of the General Secretary with regard to the activities of the Association was also adopted.
The Audited statement of the Account for the year 2022-23 duly audited by the Chartered Accountant was passed and several other important decisions were taken in the meeting stressing upon by all the members to work in full coordination with the J&K Sports Council for the promotion and development of Games and Sports.
Prof. Sharma said that both--J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association--should help each other to promote sports as both are the two sides of the same coin.
It was also decided in the meeting to conduct the Olympic Day Run-2023 on June 23 inviting all the concerned sports Institutions to have larger participation.
Meanwhile participation of the 37th National Games to be held at Goa was discussed and it was decided to constitute a five-member committee for conducting coaching camps and selection trials in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and also successful participation in the National Games.
The members also discussed that the constituted committee of five members will also take care of inviting applications for S. Rangil Singh Award for Sports Excellence-2022-23 through their concerned sports associations and no individual applications of the players/coaches will be entertained.
The members of various sports associations gave their views for the smooth conduct of activities of the J&K Olympic.
Later, the House unanimously expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha for implementing long pending sports policy for outstanding sports persons of J&K and providing infrastructure of international standard to the sports persons.
