Jammu and Kashmir Republic Day tableau displays potential of UT as pilgrims, recreational tourism spot
The Jammu and Kashmir tableau displayed at the Republic Day mega event in New Delhi on Thursday was based on the theme of `Naya Jammu & Kashmir.
The tableau displayed the potential of Jammu and Kashmir as a pilgrim and recreational tourism spot.
Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir achieved a great boost during recent years and registered a record tourist footfall of 1.62 crores for the first time in the history of 75 years of independent India, reports ANI.
The tableau`s tractor portion showcased sculptures of a Leopard, Kashmiri Stags and Kalij pheasant in the wild setting. The trolley portion showcased tulip gardens, lavender cultivation and women working on a lavender farm. The mud houses being promoted to offer eco-friendly living for tourists were displayed in the centre and at the rear end of the trolley famous holy Amarnath shrine and Skiing in the world-famous tourist destination, Gulmarg was depicted, the Indian news agency reported.
The main Republic Day event was held at Kartavya Path.
Twenty-three tableaux – 17 from States/Union Territories and six from various Ministries/Departments, depicting the nation’s rich cultural heritage, economic progress and strong internal and external security rolled down the Kartavya Path during the Republic Day parade on Jan 26, 2023.
Seventeen tableaux of States/UTs from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadar Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala will be showcased during the parade, depicting the geographical and rich cultural diversity of the country.
