Kolkata metro expansion: Yellow line from Noapara to improve connectivity to city airport
The stretch of Yellow Line Corridor of Metro Railway, Kolkata between Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar (6.77-Km) is now all set to commence metro services.

This stretch of metro section has two other stations enroute viz Dum Dum Cantonment and Jessore Road.
This will reduce the hardship of the residents of this area to reach Kolkata Airport as after commissioning of this section fast and comfortable metro journey can be enjoyed to Kolkata Airport.
The total cost of this project is approximately Rs 1,866 crores with three newly built stations i.e. Dum Dum Cantonment, Jessore and Jai Hind Bimanbandar.
State of the art passenger amenities will be provided at the newly built stations.
First phase metro will ply on this 6.77-km long stretch having four stations. Jessore Road station is the only station which is being constructed on the surface on this stretch.
Noapara and Dum Dum Cantonment stations have been built on viaducts and Bimanbandar station is an underground station.
People residing at Baranagar, Tobin Road, Sinthee, Dum Dum, Nagerbazar, Kaikhali More areas will find it very convenient to go to any part of the city by using these stations.
Noapara is further connected to the southern part of Kolkata through an interchange point for the journey through the Blue Line from Noapara to Kavi Subhash.
Dum Dum Cantonment is also in the vicinity of Sealdah- Bongaon section of Eastern Railway.
There will be an adequate number of ticket counters, sitting benches, elevators, toilets for ladies, gents and divyangjan, Public Address System for the convenience of the passengers.
The Noapara-Airport stretch along with two other stretches - Sealdah-Esplanade and Ruby More-Beleghata - will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 22.
