Lok Sabha polls: AAP, Congress agree on 4:3 seat sharing formula in Delhi
New Delhi: Congress and AAP on Saturday have agreed on seat sharing arrangement for Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa and Chandigarh, ending speculations that the two parties may not reach an understanding in the matter.
In a joint press conference in New Delhi, Congress leader Mukul Wasnik along with AAP leaders Sandeep Pathak and Atishi said, "Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats. Congress will field candidates on three seats--Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi and West Delhi and AAP will contest from the remaining four seats -- New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi."
In Gujarat, the Congress will contest from 24 seats while AAP will contest from Bharuch and Bhavnagar seats.
Gujarat has 26 parliamentary seats.
AAP wil contest from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana while Congress will contest from nine seats.
Wasnik said that in Goa and Chandigarh the Congress will field its candidates.
It may be mentioned that the Congress has forged an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh with the Congress contesting from 17 seats and the SP from 63 seats.
