Looking forward to continuing work with NPP for Meghalaya's progress: PM Modi
New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he is looking forward to continuing working with the National People's Party (NPP) for Meghalaya’s progress.
Congratulating the Chief Minister Sangma Conrad for his party's "Commendable" performance, he tweeted "I would like to congratulate Shri @SangmaConrad for his Party’s commendable performance in the Meghalaya Assembly Polls. Looking forward to continuing working together for Meghalaya’s progress."
Modi also remembered PA Sangma and said, "My friend, late Shri PA Sangma Ji would have been very proud."
The National People's Party (NPP) emerged as the single-largest party in the state on Thursday, bagging 26 seats out of the 59 constituencies that went to polls on February 27.
The United Democratic Party which was NPP's ally emerged as the second largest party winning 11 seats, while BJP has won 2 Seats.
As the party fell short of the magic figure of 31 in the 60-member assembly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Sangma sought the support of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in forming the new government.
